The B-COOL WMB ST is a 12V and 24V DC-powered wall and side mount no-idle air conditioner built for installations where roof penetration is not an option. As a split system with standard refrigerant hose connections, the WMB ST gives professional installers full control over placement, hose routing, and charge — with the evaporator mounting on the interior wall or ceiling of the cab and the condenser mounting anywhere on the vehicle exterior with adequate airflow clearance.

No roof cut. No structural compromise. The WMB ST delivers full DC no-idle cooling from a wall or side mount position, charged on-site by a licensed refrigeration technician to the exact specification required for the installation.

At 44 lbs with 350 m³/h of airflow and a 7.5m power cable as standard, the WMB ST is the lightest split system in the B-COOL lineup. Powered entirely by your 12V or 24V DC battery system — no engine idling, no shore power, no generator required.

The WMB ST is a split system — the evaporator mounts on the interior wall or ceiling of the cab and the condenser mounts on the exterior of the vehicle. The two units are connected by flexible refrigerant hoses that are charged on-site by a licensed refrigeration technician. No roof penetration required.

A licensed refrigeration technician, vacuum pump, and refrigerant handling equipment are required for installation.

Step 1 — Plan your mounting locations
Determine the best wall or side mounting location for the evaporator inside the cab. Determine the condenser mounting location on the exterior of the vehicle — ensure adequate airflow clearance around the condenser on all sides.

Step 2 — Mount the evaporator
Mount the evaporator unit on the interior wall or ceiling in the chosen location using the included hardware.

Step 3 — Mount the condenser
Mount the condenser unit on the exterior of the vehicle in the chosen location. Ensure adequate airflow clearance on all sides.

Step 4 — Route the refrigerant hoses
Route the refrigerant hoses between the evaporator and condenser through the vehicle body. Route through existing openings, grommets, or custom penetrations as required by the installation.

Step 5 — Connect and charge the refrigerant system
Connect the refrigerant hoses to both units. Evacuate the system with a vacuum pump, then charge with R134a refrigerant to the correct specification. This step must be performed by a licensed refrigeration technician.

Step 6 — Connect the control panel wiring
Connect the control panel wiring between the evaporator and the interior control panel.

Step 7 — Connect power
Run the 7.5m power cable to your 12V or 24V battery bank. Connect positive first.

Step 8 — Set low voltage protection
Before first use, program the voltage cutoff to protect your battery system:

  • 12V systems: set cutoff between 9V – 12V
  • 24V systems: set cutoff between 19V – 24V

Step 9 — Power on
Turn the unit on and verify operation in all modes.

When battery voltage drops to the cutoff threshold the unit shuts off automatically to prevent battery damage.

Who It's Built For

The WMB ST is the right unit if:

  • Your vehicle cannot or should not have a roof penetration — the WMB ST mounts on the wall or side of the cab with no roof cut required
  • You are a professional installer, dealer, or fleet upfitter who works with refrigerant equipment and wants full control over the hose routing, charge length, and installation process
  • You need custom hose run lengths — the standard hose system allows the installer to cut hoses to the exact length required, unlike the fixed-length pipes of the WMB QC
  • You operate heavy equipment where the cab roof is not accessible or suitable for penetration and the condenser needs to be mounted in a custom location on the vehicle frame or exterior
  • You're building a conversion van, Sprinter, Transit, or Promaster where wall mounting is preferred and a licensed HVAC technician is handling the installation
  • You want a wall mount no-idle DC air conditioner that any licensed refrigeration or HVAC technician can service, recharge, or repair in the field without proprietary fittings

The key difference between the WMB ST and WMB QC is the refrigerant connection method — standard hoses charged on-site versus pre-charged Quick Connect pipes. The WMB ST offers more flexibility for custom installs and is preferred by professional installers who work with refrigerant equipment. The WMB QC is faster to install and requires no refrigerant handling. Both units are identical in performance.

The key difference between the WMB ST and FLEX ST is the evaporator form factor — the WMB ST evaporator is specifically shaped and sized for wall and side mounting, while the FLEX ST has a different profile suited to more varied placement options.

Applications

Heavy Equipment — excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, cranes, mining equipment — wall or side mount where roof penetration is not possible, custom hose routing required

Fleet Upfitting — professional installers who work with refrigerant equipment and prefer standard hose systems over Quick Connect for wall mount applications

Van Conversion & Upfitting — Sprinter, Transit, Promaster, and custom builds where wall mounting is preferred, licensed installer available on-site

Trucking & Transportation — day cabs, specialty trucks, and vehicles where wall or side mount is preferred and a licensed technician is handling installation

Agriculture — tractors and harvesting equipment where cab configuration requires a custom-routed wall mount split system

Off-Grid Solar Builds — battery-powered off-grid vehicles where wall mount positioning, no roof penetration, and custom hose routing are design priorities

FAQ

What is the difference between the WMB ST and the WMB QC?
Both are identical in performance — same specs, same airflow (350 m³/h), same noise (48 dB), same amp draw (35–65A at 12V), same weight (44 lbs), same 7.5m cable. The difference is the refrigerant connection method. The WMB ST uses standard hose connections charged on-site by a licensed refrigeration technician — offering more flexibility in hose run length and full control over the charge. The WMB QC uses pre-charged Quick Connect pipes with no refrigerant handling required and includes a 100A fuse as standard.

What is the difference between the WMB ST and the FLEX ST?
Both use standard refrigerant hose connections and have identical performance specs. The WMB ST evaporator is specifically designed for wall and side mounting. The FLEX ST has a different evaporator profile suited to more varied placement options including ceiling mounting. If wall or side mounting is your application, the WMB ST is the purpose-built choice.

Does the WMB ST require a licensed refrigeration technician?
Yes. The WMB ST uses standard refrigerant hose connections that must be evacuated and charged on-site. This requires a vacuum pump, refrigerant handling equipment, and a licensed refrigeration technician. If you need a wall mount system that does not require refrigerant handling, the WMB QC is the right choice.

Does the WMB ST require a roof cut?
No. The WMB ST mounts on the interior wall or side of the cab. No roof penetration required.

Does the WMB ST work on both 12V and 24V systems?
Yes. The WMB ST is available in both 12V and 24V configurations. Select your voltage when ordering. The unit is wired for one voltage — it is not a dual-voltage unit.

Is this unit compliant with anti-idling regulations?
Yes. The WMB ST runs entirely on DC battery power with no engine idling required, making it fully compatible with anti-idling laws and idle reduction programs across North America.

What battery bank do I need?

Why B-COOL Does Not List BTU Ratings

Every other brand lists BTU numbers. We don't, and here's why.

BTU ratings in the 12V and 24V air conditioner market are tested in controlled lab conditions and competitors go with their favourite testing company and tend to use those results that depicts them the "best". Real-world performance — inside a truck cab or RV sitting in the sun at 100°F+ — is a completely different story. The numbers you see on competitor listings are inflated, and we are not willing to publish figures that mislead the people who depend on this equipment to stay safe and productive.

Lower amp draw means longer battery runtime. For operators running on batteries overnight, during rest breaks, or in anti-idling zones, the 6RM stretches your power further than any other rooftop option in our lineup.
