Contact Us to Request Pricing

The B-COOL X7RM is the only unit in the B-COOL lineup that both cools and heats — making it the go-to choice for operators who need 4-season climate control without idling the engine. Powered by 12V or 24V DC, it runs entirely off your battery system with no shore power, no generator, and no fuel burn.

In cooling mode the X7RM delivers 400 m³/h of airflow — the same output as the 5RM but with the added capability of PTC electric heating, which warms the cab quickly and efficiently on cold mornings, during pre-trip warmups, or anywhere anti-idling regulations apply.

At 48 lbs with the same 27.5 x 27.5 in rooftop footprint as the 5RM, the X7RM installs on the same roof cut and fits the same vehicles — giving you a direct upgrade path from cooling-only to full 4-season climate control.

The X7RM is a self-contained rooftop unit — compressor, condenser, evaporator, and PTC heating element all housed in one unit that mounts on top of the vehicle. No refrigerant lines to run. No separate condenser to mount. The unit ships pre-charged with R134a and is ready to run straight out of the box.

The X7RM uses the same 13.78 x 7.87 in roof cut as the 5RM — making it a direct drop-in upgrade for any vehicle already fitted with a 5RM opening.

Professional installation required.

Step 1 — Cut the roof opening
Cut a 13.78 x 7.87 in (35 x 20 cm) rectangular opening in the roof. If upgrading from a 5RM the existing opening is the correct size — no re-cutting required. Measure twice before cutting.

Step 2 — Prepare the mounting surface
Apply the rubber gasket and sealant around the opening to create a weatherproof seal.

Step 3 — Set the support bolts
Adjust the support bolts to the correct height for your specific roof thickness before setting the unit.

Step 4 — Mount the unit
Set the X7RM onto the roof opening and secure it with the included support brace.

Step 5 — Connect the control panel wiring
Run the control panel wiring through the roof and connect to the interior control panel.

Step 6 — Connect power
Run the power cable to your 12V or 24V battery bank. Connect positive first. The standard cable is 6m (20ft). An optional 10.5m (35ft) cable is available from our Parts Department if needed.

Step 7 — Set low voltage protection
Before first use, program the voltage cutoff to protect your battery system:

  • 12V systems: set cutoff between 9V – 12V
  • 24V systems: set cutoff between 19V – 24V

Step 8 — Finish interior
Install the optional decorative panel on the interior ceiling for a clean finish.

Step 9 — Power on
Turn the unit on and verify both cooling and heating modes operate correctly.

PTC Heating mode:

  • Activates the PTC electric heating element
  • Heats cab up to 113°F (45°C) set temperature
  • Runs entirely on DC battery power — no engine idling required
  • Ideal for cold morning pre-trips, rest stops in cold climates, and anti-idling compliance in winter

Airflow: 6 adjustable levels via remote or control panel.

Low Voltage Protection

The X7RM includes programmable voltage cutoff to protect your battery system from deep discharge.

  • 12V systems: set cutoff between 9V – 12V
  • 24V systems: set cutoff between 19V – 24V

When battery voltage drops to the cutoff threshold the unit shuts off automatically to prevent battery damage.

Who It's Built For

The X7RM is the right unit if:

  • You drive a semi truck, sleeper cab, or long haul truck through regions with cold winters and hot summers — the X7RM handles both without idling the engine
  • You need a no-idle heater as much as a no-idle air conditioner — the PTC heating element runs entirely off DC battery power, keeping the cab warm during rest stops, pre-trips, and extended stops in cold weather
  • You operate heavy equipment in climates where operators need heating in the morning and cooling by midday — the X7RM switches between modes instantly
  • You want a direct upgrade from the 5RM — same roof cut size, same footprint, just with 4-season capability added
  • You're anti-idling compliant year-round — in cold climates, idling for heat is just as much of a regulatory and cost issue as idling for cooling
  • You need an aftermarket 12V or 24V heater and air conditioner in a single rooftop unit

The X7RM is the only unit in the B-COOL lineup with PTC heating. If you only need cooling, consider the 5RM (same footprint, lower cost) or the 6RM (quieter, lower amp draw). But if you need heat and cool in one unit powered entirely by DC battery, the X7RM is your only option in our lineup.

Applications

Trucking & Transportation — semi trucks, sleeper cabs, long haul trucks operating in cold climates, day cabs requiring year-round climate control, tanker trucks, flatbed trucks — anti-idling compliance in both summer and winter

Heavy Equipment — excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, cranes, mining equipment operating in variable climates — heating in the morning, cooling by midday

Agriculture — large cab tractors and harvesters in regions with cold mornings and hot afternoons — eliminates the need for idling in both seasons

Fleet Operations — mixed-climate fleets where a single unit needs to handle year-round conditions without engine idling

Emergency Services & Military — field vehicles and command units operating in cold climates where DC-powered heating without idling is operationally critical

FAQ

What is PTC heating and how does it work?
PTC stands for Positive Temperature Coefficient. It is an electric heating element that generates heat directly from DC battery power — no combustion, no fuel, no engine required. The X7RM's PTC element heats the cab up to 113°F (45°C) set temperature, running entirely off your 12V or 24V battery system.

Is the X7RM the only B-COOL unit with heating?
Yes. The X7RM is the only unit in the entire B-COOL lineup that includes a heating mode. All other units are cooling-only.

Does the X7RM work on both 12V and 24V systems?
Yes. The X7RM is available in both 12V and 24V configurations. Select your voltage when ordering. The unit is wired for one voltage — it is not a dual-voltage unit.

Can I upgrade from a 5RM to an X7RM without cutting a new hole?
Yes. The X7RM uses the identical 13.78 x 7.87 in roof cut as the 5RM. If your vehicle already has a 5RM installed, the X7RM drops into the same opening with no re-cutting required.

Does it come pre-charged?
Yes. The X7RM ships pre-charged with R134a refrigerant and is ready to install. No vacuum pump or refrigerant equipment needed.

Is this unit compliant with anti-idling regulations?
Yes — in both cooling and heating modes. The X7RM runs entirely on DC battery power with no engine idling required, making it fully compatible with anti-idling laws and idle reduction programs across North America in all seasons.

What size hole do I need to cut?
13.78 x 7.87 inches (35 x 20 cm) — identical to the 5RM. Measure twice before cutting.

How does the X7RM compare to the 5RM?
Same rooftop footprint, same roof cut, same airflow (400 m³/h), same noise level (68 dB). The X7RM adds PTC electric heating capability and weighs 8 lbs more (48 lbs vs 40 lbs). If you only need cooling, the 5RM is the simpler and lower-cost option. If you need year-round climate control, the X7RM is the upgrade.

What battery bank do I need?
At 12V, the X7RM draws between 40 and 75 amps in both cooling and heating modes. Contact our technical support team to size your battery system correctly for your runtime requirements.

What if I need replacement parts?
All X7RM components are stocked with dedicated part numbers. Contact our Parts Department at adrian@dcpowersales.com or 778-679-4999.

Why B-COOL Does Not List BTU Ratings

Every other brand lists BTU numbers. We don't, and here's why.

BTU ratings in the 12V and 24V air conditioner market are tested in controlled lab conditions and competitors go with their favourite testing company and tend to use those results that depicts them the "best". Real-world performance — inside a truck cab or RV sitting in the sun at 100°F+ — is a completely different story. The numbers you see on competitor listings are inflated, and we are not willing to publish figures that mislead the people who depend on this equipment to stay safe and productive.

Lower amp draw means longer battery runtime. For operators running on batteries overnight, during rest breaks, or in anti-idling zones, the 6RM stretches your power further than any other rooftop option in our lineup.
