The B-COOL 12RM Dual Fan is the most fully-featured rooftop no-idle air conditioner in the B-COOL lineup. Powered by 12V or 24V DC, it runs entirely off your battery system with no engine idling, no shore power, and no generator — and it comes loaded with operating modes, dual fans, a drier bottle, and an optional Hybrid Control Panel that no other rooftop unit in our lineup offers.

At 400 m³/h airflow and 99 lbs, the 12RM Dual Fan is built for large cab spaces — semi trucks, sleeper cabs, heavy equipment, and any application where maximum features and high airflow are the priority. It draws between 35 and 85A at 12V, giving fleet managers and owner-operators the most capable DC-powered rooftop AC we make.

The 12RM Dual Fan is a self-contained rooftop unit — compressor, condenser, dual evaporator fans, and drier bottle all housed in one unit that mounts on top of the vehicle. No refrigerant lines to run. No separate condenser to mount. The unit ships pre-charged with R134a and is ready to run straight out of the box.

Professional installation required.

Step 1 — Cut the roof opening
Cut a 13.78 x 21.26 in rectangular opening in the roof. Measure twice before cutting.

Step 2 — Prepare the mounting surface
Apply the rubber gasket and sealant around the opening to create a weatherproof seal.

Step 3 — Set the support bolts
Adjust the support bolts to the correct height for your specific roof thickness before setting the unit.

Step 4 — Mount the unit
Set the 12RM Dual Fan onto the roof opening and secure it with the included support brace. Note: at 99 lbs this unit requires two people for safe roof mounting.

Step 5 — Connect the control panel wiring
Run the control panel wiring through the roof and connect to the interior control panel. If installing the optional Hybrid Control Panel, follow the additional wiring instructions in the full installation manual.

Step 6 — Connect power
Run the power cable to your 12V or 24V battery bank. Connect positive first. The standard cable is 6m (20ft). An optional 10.5m (35ft) cable is available from our Parts Department if needed.

Step 7 — Set low voltage protection
Before first use, program the voltage cutoff to protect your battery system:

  • 12V systems: set cutoff between 9V – 12V
  • 24V systems: set cutoff between 19V – 24V

Step 8 — Finish interior
Install the optional decorative panel on the interior ceiling for a clean finish.

Step 9 — Power on
Turn the unit on and verify all operating modes function correctly.

Inside Control Panel — 4 Buttons

  • Button A: Power on / off
  • Button B: Mode — cycles through all available operating modes
  • Button C (â–²): Increase airflow level / increase temperature set point
  • Button D (â–¼): Decrease airflow level / decrease temperature set point

Remote Control

Power on / off. Temperature range: 60.8°F – 89.6°F.

Operating modes — the 12RM Dual Fan has more modes than any other unit in the B-COOL lineup:

  • Auto — automatically maintains set temperature, default 78.8°F, Level 4 airflow
  • Cool — active compressor cooling, 6 airflow levels
  • Dry — dehumidification mode — removes moisture from the cab without aggressive cooling, ideal for humid climates
  • Sleep — gradually adjusts temperature over time for comfortable overnight use, dims the display automatically
  • Turbo — maximum compressor and fan output for fastest possible cooldown
  • Timer — set the unit to turn on or off automatically at a specified time
  • Query — system status check mode
  • Fresh Air — fan only, compressor off. Circulates and ventilates without active cooling.

Airflow: 6 adjustable levels via remote or control panel.

Display button: turns the interior cab display on or off.

Hybrid Control Panel (Optional)

The optional Hybrid Control Panel provides an alternative control interface for installations where the standard panel placement is not practical. Contact our sales team for availability and pricing.

Low Voltage Protection

The 12RM Dual Fan includes programmable voltage cutoff to protect your battery system from deep discharge.

  • 12V systems: set cutoff between 9V – 12V
  • 24V systems: set cutoff between 19V – 24V

When battery voltage drops to the cutoff threshold the unit shuts off automatically to prevent battery damage.
Who It's Built For

The 12RM Dual Fan is the right unit if:

The 12RM Dual Fan is the heaviest rooftop unit in the lineup at 99 lbs. If weight is a constraint, consider the 9RM (77 lbs, 38 dB, large cab coverage) or the 6RM (60 lbs, 38 dB, lowest amp draw). But if you want the most capable rooftop unit we make, the 12RM Dual Fan is it.

Does the 12RM Dual Fan work on both 12V and 24V systems?
Yes. The 12RM Dual Fan is available in both 12V and 24V configurations. Select your voltage when ordering. The unit is wired for one voltage — it is not a dual-voltage unit.

What makes the 12RM Dual Fan different from the other rooftop units?
It has the most operating modes of any unit in the lineup — Auto, Dry, Sleep, Turbo, Timer, and Query. It also includes a drier bottle as standard and offers an optional Hybrid Control Panel. No other B-COOL rooftop unit has all of these features.

What is Sleep mode?
Sleep mode gradually adjusts the set temperature over time to maintain comfortable sleeping conditions without overcooling. It also dims the interior display automatically so light doesn't disturb rest. It is purpose-built for overnight sleeper cab use.

What is Turbo mode?
Turbo mode runs the compressor and both fans at maximum output for the fastest possible cab cooldown. Use it when you first get into a hot cab and need to bring the temperature down quickly.

What is the optional Hybrid Control Panel?
The Hybrid Control Panel is an alternative control interface for the 12RM Dual Fan that provides more flexible mounting options for non-standard or custom cab configurations. Contact our sales team for availability and pricing.

Both units share the same dimensions, weight (99 lbs), and power draw (35–85A at 12V). The YTRM has higher airflow (460 m³/h vs 400 m³/h), is purpose-built for yard trucks with ignition cut-off and stainless hardware, and includes the Hybrid Control Panel as standard. The 12RM Dual Fan has more operating modes and is the better choice for general trucking, heavy equipment, and fleet applications.

What battery bank do I need?
At 12V, the 12RM Dual Fan draws between 35 and 85 amps. Contact our technical support team to size your battery system correctly for your runtime requirements.

Why B-COOL Does Not List BTU Ratings

Every other brand lists BTU numbers. We don't, and here's why.

BTU ratings in the 12V and 24V air conditioner market are tested in controlled lab conditions and competitors go with their favourite testing company and tend to use those results that depicts them the "best". Real-world performance — inside a truck cab or RV sitting in the sun at 100°F+ — is a completely different story. The numbers you see on competitor listings are inflated, and we are not willing to publish figures that mislead the people who depend on this equipment to stay safe and productive.

Lower amp draw means longer battery runtime. For operators running on batteries overnight, during rest breaks, or in anti-idling zones, the 6RM stretches your power further than any other rooftop option in our lineup.
