B-COOL FLEX ST | 12V & 24V DC Split Air Conditioner for RVs, Trucks & Off-Grid Vehicles

$888.00
Voltage

The B-COOL FLEX ST is a 12V and 24V DC-powered split no-idle air conditioner built for installations where placement flexibility matters most. As a split system, the evaporator mounts inside the cab and the condenser mounts outside the vehicle, connected by flexible refrigerant hoses that route wherever the installation demands. No roof penetration required. The condenser can mount on the exterior wall, undercarriage, or any location with adequate airflow clearance.

Unlike the FLEX QC, the FLEX ST uses standard refrigerant hose connections charged on-site by a licensed refrigeration technician; making it the preferred choice for professional installers and fleet upfitters who already work with refrigerant equipment and want full control over the installation process and hose routing length.

At 53 lbs with 350 m³/h of airflow and a 7.5m power cable as standard, the FLEX ST delivers reliable DC no-idle cooling with maximum installation flexibility. No engine idling. No shore power. No generator. Runs entirely off your 12V or 24V DC battery system.

The FLEX ST is a split system — the evaporator mounts inside the cab and the condenser mounts outside the vehicle. The two units are connected by flexible refrigerant hoses that are charged on-site by a licensed refrigeration technician. No roof penetration required.

A licensed refrigeration technician, vacuum pump, and refrigerant handling equipment are required for installation.

Step 1 — Plan your mounting locations
Determine the best mounting location for the evaporator inside the cab and the condenser outside the vehicle. The condenser requires adequate airflow clearance. The flexible hose routing allows significant flexibility in placement and hose run length.

Step 2 — Mount the evaporator
Mount the evaporator unit inside the cab in the chosen location using the included hardware.

Step 3 — Mount the condenser
Mount the condenser unit on the exterior of the vehicle. Ensure adequate airflow clearance on all sides.

Step 4 — Route the refrigerant hoses
Route the refrigerant hoses between the evaporator and condenser through the vehicle body. Route through existing openings, grommets, or custom penetrations as required by the installation.

Step 5 — Connect and charge the refrigerant system
Connect the refrigerant hoses to both units. Evacuate the system with a vacuum pump, then charge with R134a refrigerant to the correct specification. This step must be performed by a licensed refrigeration technician.

Step 6 — Connect the control panel wiring
Connect the control panel wiring between the evaporator and interior control panel.

Step 7 — Connect power
Run the 7.5m power cable to your 12V or 24V battery bank. Connect positive first.

Step 8 — Set low voltage protection
Before first use, program the voltage cutoff to protect your battery system:

  • 12V systems: set cutoff between 9V – 12V
  • 24V systems: set cutoff between 19V – 24V

Step 9 — Power on
Turn the unit on and verify operation in all modes.

  • 24V systems: set cutoff between 19V – 24V

When battery voltage drops to the cutoff threshold the unit shuts off automatically to prevent battery damage.

Who It's Built For

The FLEX ST is the right unit if:

  • You are a professional installer, dealer, or fleet upfitter who works with refrigerant equipment and wants full control over the hose routing, charge, and installation process
  • You need maximum placement flexibility — the FLEX ST's standard hose system allows custom hose run lengths that cannot be achieved with the fixed-length Quick Connect pipes of the FLEX QC
  • Your vehicle cannot or should not have a roof penetration — the FLEX ST mounts the condenser on the exterior wall, undercarriage, or any location with adequate airflow, with no roof cut required
  • You're building a conversion van, Sprinter, Transit, or Promaster where interior evaporator placement and exterior condenser routing need to be customised to the specific build
  • You operate heavy equipment where the cab configuration makes a rooftop unit impractical and a custom-routed split system is the right solution
  • You prefer a traditional refrigerant system that any licensed HVAC or refrigeration technician can service, repair, or recharge in the field without proprietary fittings or equipment

The key difference between the FLEX ST and FLEX QC is the refrigerant connection method. The FLEX ST uses standard hoses charged on-site — more flexibility, more control, requires a licensed technician. The FLEX QC uses pre-charged Quick Connect pipes — faster install, no refrigerant handling required. Both units are identical in performance.

Applications

Van Conversion & Upfitting — Sprinter, Transit, Promaster, and custom conversion builds where precise evaporator and condenser placement and custom hose routing are required

Heavy Equipment — excavators, bulldozers, cranes, specialty equipment where split system flexibility and custom condenser placement are needed

Fleet Upfitting — professional installers and upfitters who work with refrigerant equipment and prefer standard hose systems over Quick Connect

RV & Motorhome — applications where flexible condenser placement is needed and the installer has refrigerant handling capability

Agriculture: tractors and harvesting equipment where cab configuration requires a custom-routed split system

Off-Grid Solar Builds: battery-powered off-grid vehicles where split system flexibility and no roof penetration are design priorities and refrigerant handling is available on-site

FAQ

What is the difference between the FLEX ST and the FLEX QC?
Both are identical in performance — same specs, same airflow (350 m³/h), same noise (48 dB), same amp draw (35–65A at 12V), same weight (53 lbs). The difference is the refrigerant connection method. The FLEX ST uses standard hose connections charged on-site by a licensed refrigeration technician — offering more flexibility in hose run length and full control over the charge process. The FLEX QC uses pre-charged Quick Connect pipes with no refrigerant handling required. The FLEX QC also includes a 100A fuse as standard and has a shorter standard power cable (6m vs 7.5m).

Does the FLEX ST require a licensed refrigeration technician?
Yes. The FLEX ST uses standard refrigerant hose connections that must be evacuated and charged on-site. This requires a vacuum pump, refrigerant handling equipment, and a licensed refrigeration technician. If you need a system that does not require refrigerant handling, the FLEX QC is the right choice.

Does the FLEX ST require a roof cut?
No. As a split system, the condenser mounts on the exterior of the vehicle and the evaporator mounts inside the cab. The hoses route through the vehicle body via existing openings or custom penetrations — no roof cut required.

Does the FLEX ST work on both 12V and 24V systems?
Yes. The FLEX ST is available in both 12V and 24V configurations. Select your voltage when ordering. The unit is wired for one voltage, it is not a dual-voltage unit.

Why does the FLEX ST have a longer standard cable than the FLEX QC?
The FLEX ST comes with a 7.5m (25ft) power cable as standard versus 6m (20ft) on the FLEX QC. The extra length accommodates the more varied and custom installation positions typical of standard hose split system installs.

Is this unit compliant with anti-idling regulations?
Yes. The FLEX ST runs entirely on DC battery power with no engine idling required, making it fully compatible with anti-idling laws and idle reduction programs across North America.

What battery bank do I need?
At 12V, the FLEX ST draws between 35 and 65 amps. Contact our technical support team to size your battery system correctly for your runtime requirements.

Why B-COOL Does Not List BTU Ratings

Every other brand lists BTU numbers. We don't, and here's why.

BTU ratings in the 12V and 24V air conditioner market are tested in controlled lab conditions and competitors go with their favourite testing company and tend to use those results that depicts them the "best". Real-world performance — inside a truck cab or RV sitting in the sun at 100°F+ — is a completely different story. The numbers you see on competitor listings are inflated, and we are not willing to publish figures that mislead the people who depend on this equipment to stay safe and productive.

Lower amp draw means longer battery runtime. For operators running on batteries overnight, during rest breaks, or in anti-idling zones, the 6RM stretches your power further than any other rooftop option in our lineup.
