B-COOL RF 12V DC Mobile Refrigeration Unit | Rooftop Reefer for Cargo Vans & Delivery Trucks

$2,450.00
Voltage

The B-COOL RF is a 12V DC-powered rooftop mobile refrigeration unit built for cargo vans, delivery trucks, food service vehicles, and any operator who needs to keep goods fresh, cold or frozen during transport, without depending on diesel fuel or a running engine.

Traditional transport refrigeration units run on their own diesel engines. They are loud, fuel-hungry, and expensive to service. The B-COOL RF runs directly off your vehicle's 12V DC battery system. No diesel. No separate fuel tank. No engine idling. Just programmable, reliable cold-chain refrigeration powered by the same battery that starts your truck.

Mount the B-COOL RF to your vehicle roof over a 20.08 x 12.99 inches (51 x 33 cm) cut opening. The outdoor condenser sits on top. The evaporator blows cold air down into the cargo area below. The digital control panel lets you dial in your exact set temperature, from a warm 30°C right down to -25°C for frozen cargo. The unit runs automatically, holds set-point temperature, defrosts on a programmable schedule, and shuts down cleanly to protect the compressor.

WHAT IS A REEFER UNIT? In the trucking industry, a reefer unit (short for refrigeration unit) is the system that keeps a van or truck's cargo area cold or frozen during transport. It works on the same vapour-compression refrigeration cycle as a household refrigerator: compressor, condenser, expansion valve, evaporator - but built for the demands of road transport. Traditional reefer units run on diesel. The B-COOL RF is a DC-powered version, running off a 12V vehicle battery, making commercial-grade cold-chain refrigeration accessible for smaller vans, last-mile delivery vehicles, and DC-powered fleets.

REFRIGERATION AND FREEZING ONLY. The B-COOL RF does not include a heating function.

CRITICAL - STARTUP & SHUTDOWN SEQUENCE: Always start your vehicle engine BEFORE powering on the B-COOL RF. To shut down: hold the power button for 1 second, wait for the panel display to go fully dark, THEN turn off the engine. Skipping this shutdown sequence may damage the compressor and refrigeration system.

How It Works

The B-COOL RF operates on the standard vapour-compression refrigeration cycle used in all commercial reefer units:

  1. The compressor pressurizes refrigerant gas, raising its temperature and pressure.
  2. High-pressure gas flows to the condenser on the roof, releasing heat to outside air and condensing into liquid.
  3. Liquid refrigerant passes through the expansion valve where pressure drops rapidly, cooling it significantly.
  4. Cold refrigerant enters the evaporator. As it absorbs heat from the cargo area, it evaporates back to gas — cooling the air inside the cargo space.
  5. The cycle repeats automatically, maintaining your set temperature.

The digital control panel monitors cargo area temperature in real time. Set your target and the B-COOL RF maintains it automatically. The programmable defrost cycle prevents ice buildup on the evaporator, keeping efficiency up on long runs.

Installation Overview

Professional installation required.

Step 1 — Cut the roof opening
Cut a 51 cm x 33 cm (20.08 in x 13 in) opening in the vehicle roof. Measure twice before cutting.

Step 2 — Prepare the opening
Clean the cut area thoroughly — remove all dirt, dust, and metal debris.

Step 3 — Apply gasket and sealant
Apply gasket and sealant around the opening for a weatherproof seal.

Step 4 — Mount the unit
Lift the unit with assistance — it weighs 59.52 lbs. Place it onto the gasket over the opening and secure to the roof with the included mounting hardware.

Step 5 — Route the control panel cables
Route and connect the control panel cables from the unit down into the cargo area.

Step 6 — Connect power
Connect the power cord to the 12V battery — positive first, positive to positive, negative to negative.

Step 7 — First startup
Start the vehicle engine first. Then short-press the power button on the control panel to power on the B-COOL RF.

Shutdown sequence: Hold the power button for 1 second. Wait for the panel display to go fully dark. Then turn off the vehicle engine. Always follow this sequence to protect the compressor.

Operating Manual

The B-COOL RF features a streamlined control panel and includes a wireless remote control.

  • Operating Modes: Press the Mode button to cycle between Cooling, ECO, and Air supply (Fan) modes.
  • Airflow Control: Adjust between 5 different air volume speeds for optimal cargo circulation.
  • Voltage Protection: The unit includes under-voltage protection to prevent draining your vehicle's starter battery. You can adjust the protection threshold by long-pressing the power button.
  • Display: The screen indicates the current working voltage or the set temperature inside the cargo area.

FAQ

What is a reefer unit?
A reefer unit is the refrigeration system that keeps a cargo van or truck's cargo area cold or frozen during transport. The B-COOL RF is a DC-powered version — it runs off your 12V vehicle battery instead of diesel, making it accessible for smaller vehicles and DC-powered fleets.

What is the temperature range?
The B-COOL RF has a storage temperature setting range of -25°C to 30°C. This covers standard refrigeration above 0°C and freezing below 0°C.

Can it freeze goods below 0°C?
Yes. The temperature can be set below 0°C, making it suitable for frozen goods, ice cream, frozen meals, and other products requiring sub-zero temperatures.

Does it have automatic defrost?
Yes. Programmable automatic defrost: interval (30 to 600 min) and duration (1 to 60 min) are both adjustable through the Advanced Function Menu.

Is professional installation required?
Yes. The B-COOL RF requires cutting a 51 x 33 cm (20.08 x 13 in) opening in the vehicle roof. Professional installation is required. Contact our team for installation guidance.

What vehicles is it compatible with?
Any cargo van, delivery truck, or box truck with sufficient roof area for the 51 x 33 cm opening and a 12V DC electrical system. The cargo area should be insulated for best refrigeration performance.

Why B-COOL Does Not List BTU Ratings

Every other brand lists BTU numbers. We don't, and here's why.

BTU ratings in the 12V and 24V air conditioner market are tested in controlled lab conditions and competitors go with their favourite testing company and tend to use those results that depicts them the "best". Real-world performance — inside a truck cab or RV sitting in the sun at 100°F+ — is a completely different story. The numbers you see on competitor listings are inflated, and we are not willing to publish figures that mislead the people who depend on this equipment to stay safe and productive.

Lower amp draw means longer battery runtime. For operators running on batteries overnight, during rest breaks, or in anti-idling zones, the 6RM stretches your power further than any other rooftop option in our lineup.
